Camping

Here comes one for my overlanding friends that are travelling even more basic than I do. Like Brenton & Shannon or Laura & James for example. It does not need a lot of space to carry your camping gear.

This was 2006 when I lived in Texas. I must admit though: That had nothing to do with overlanding. A weekend trip that was. But at least all the camping gear plus hiking boots and a little back pack did fit in the nearly non-existing trunk of my Caterham Super 7. I got pulled over by the cops just twice, didn't get a ticket though.

O.k., o.k., back to the real thing and the story of this blog: Much more overlanding kind of stuff and if you want to see Camping pictures of the blue truck on my trip on the Americas you'd best check out the following LINK. (To be updated real soon).

Wanna get Juicy?

We love it juicy!

All those fresh fruit in those tropical countries are just fantastically tasty. Like so many things, often better as a drink! We've been looking for a blender that works with a rechargable battery and actually - surprise, surprise -  found one in Paraguay. With just one idea: Let's get juicy! Let's get into business and start getting juicy ourselfs. Bad luck. The only model in the shop was the one on display, being permanently hooked up to charging power I did not trust the battery to be as good as new anymore. So I passed on it.

So - for right now we still go to someone elses house to get juicy.

Greetings from Ilhabela, Brazil!

Going to Paraguay? - Meet the 2CV Man!

Do you know what a Citroën 2CV Sahara is? A 2CV with four wheel drive. But not just 4WD, it is a construction with two engines, one in the back one in the fornt. Each controlled by the same set of controls. And did you think this was ever sold in Paraguay? Correct - no way.

So, Walter a German imigrant in Paraguay had to build his own to have one. This is exactly what Walter did. He constructed his very own Citroën 4x4. With two 2 cylinder engines, two gearboxes and all that, just like the original. Just that he never had any drawings or alike. After all he is in Paraguay and all that took place a couple of years before there was internet, facebook and alike.

But that is not the end, Walter also owns a 2CV Fourgennette and two 109 Land Rovers. He and his wife Domi run a Hostal and you can contact Walter for individual tours in South America. You can also camp in his garden, your vehicle shouldn't be too tall tough.

Walter has also written a book, find more information about it HERE on my German blog. Also a link, where you can order directly with Walter.

Here you will find the Hostal right about inbetween Asuncion and Ciudad del Este: S25°26.234 und W056°26.571'.
