Dia de los Muertos

Last night the celebrations of the Mexican holiday "Dia de los Muertos", day of the death has come to an end. The death have come and gone and will not return until next years celebrations.

Throughout the city Ofrendas, little altars to remember and receive the death are build up.

During the night of November 1...

...death is in the streets.

And every one takes a part in the celebrations.

Theater and concerts are taking place. All with the subject of the dead and their return.

Ofrendas all over the City.

On November 2, family and friends meet on the cementry. A Colorful Celebration with music, food and drinks...

...as a farewell for the dead who have visited and will be...

...gone by midnight and not return until next years dia de los muertos.

By November 3rd the celebrations come to an end...

...the dead  who have come back will be gone.

And soon the decoration of the City will come down as well.

  2. Thanks, Janet. Yes indeed it was really impressive and the relaxed and different way Mexico has to deal with death has kind of touched me.
